‘Meaningful Work’ Garners International Attention

EAST LANSING, MI: Meaningful work matters to local marketing agency King Media, who was recently honored with two international awards for campaigns on behalf of the Kent County Health Department and Isabella County Veterans Affairs.

“At this stage in my career, I choose to focus on projects that will make a positive difference for communities,” says Coleen King, president and founder. “My team and I want to do meaningful work. We want to create change that contributes to growth and success for communities throughout the state, and we’re thankful that our work in Kent and Isabella counties has been recognized for its impact.”

The Kent County Health Department wanted to address the serious issue of binge drinking without delivering a lecture. King Media developed a fresh campaign to connect with young adults, taking into account the thriving craft beer, wine and spirits culture in the Grand Rapids area. About Last Night centers on the stories one might tell – and the apologies one might need to make – after a night of heavy drinking, and prompted the audience to remember they can enjoy happy hour without the hangover. For the campaign’s soft launch, King Media used Facebook and Instagram to reach targeted audiences, and received an honorable mention in branding from the PR News Digital Awards.

The Benefits You’ve Earned was developed to connect veterans in Isabella County to the VA benefits they have earned through their service. King Media took the campaign from concept to execution, and was honored by the PR News Digital Awards with an honorable mention in cause marketing for creative use of outdoor digital billboards. Feedback from Isabella VA indicates increased interest in their services and more tools with which to share their message throughout the community.

“If our campaigns have caused one person to make positive choices – whether that means a young adult who takes a hard look at unhealthy drinking habits or a veteran who realizes there are important benefits available – all the work is worthwhile,” says King. “Of course, we know that our campaigns touch more than just a handful of lives. The ripple effects are far-reaching, and every successful campaign helps our communities.”

The PR News awards programs salute top talent and creativity from all around the world, and the Digital Awards recognize the most innovative and industry-altering digital campaigns. Honorees have reshaped the landscape of marketing and communications, according to PRNewsOnline.com.
