EAST LANSING, MI: Coleen King, President & Founder of the internationally recognized full-service agency King Media, has been named a PR News 2019 Top Women in PR honoree. This prestigious group represents the women trailblazers who are making a tremendous impact in the communications field through their innovation and leadership.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside successful and driven women from across the world,” says King. “I love what I do, and when you love something you work at it every day as hard as you can, giving it your all, until you inevitably create change.”

King was recognized on January 28 at the PR News Top Women in PR Luncheon in New York, NY, alongside other women leaders from global agencies who have made bold advances in crisis management, brand reputation, content creation, social media marketing and more for their organizations and clients.

King started her career at Avery Knodel, a prestigious national rep firm in Chicago, where she negotiated with the nation’s largest ad agencies on behalf of Kellogg, Sears, Unilever, American Dairy and Proctor & Gamble. Eventually, her love of Michigan brought her back to East Lansing, where she became the very first female sales representative in the history of WLNS-TV 6, Lansing’s CBS affiliate. Not deterred by the challenges of breaking into a male-dominated field, King quickly rose to become the top-performing regional sales manager for two different local television affiliates during her career in media.

In 1999, King started her own agency. More than twenty years later, King Media now provides full-service public relations, marketing, advertising and digital media services that move the needle for companies and organizations of all sizes, in all industries. King Media has three offices – East Lansing, Grand Rapids and St. Joseph – with a coast-to-coast footprint and 26 national and international awards since 2015.
